Chris's comment on the need for corporate branding

Chris Nguyen sums up the need for corporate branding very succintly. As overhead from a dinner conversation, "It's so important. I really believe the businesses need this. (Without branding) the world is a fairly ugly place. It's like, "If it were a guy, I would not f* it.'" (raucous male laughter)
I admit, I laughed too.
He apparently feels strongly about the need for the world to be aesthetically pleasing at every level. Ah, Chris.
However, on many levels, I relate. I'm not one of the people who has ever purchased a product based on packaging, labeling, logos, or any other advertising gimmick. But, I do obsess about the color of my couch. I throw away other people's beer caps as soon as they touch the kitchen table. I shift candles a fractions of an inch to the left or the right. In my mind, it restores a sense of world balance. I have erased a board and re-written a message no less than 10 times, because the words slanted downwards, you see ... Friends, forgive me. I feel strongly about the need for the world to be aesthetically pleasing at every level. I want them to think, "If that were a girl..."
